I went to the 100-yen shop again today.

Cathy
Again? Didn’t you just go there the other day?

Alain
Yes, but that place is amazing.

You really love that store.

Alain
Of course! I still can’t believe everything is just 100 yen.

Cathy
Well, not everything.
Some things are 300 or 500 yen now.

Alain
Even so, it’s still incredibly cheap.

Especially now, with the weak yen.

Alain
What do you mean?

The yen is weak now.
And many of those products are imported.

Alain
That’s true.

Cathy
So I always wonder how they can sell things so cheaply.

Alain
Yeah, it is kind of a mystery.

You know, something surprised me the other day.

Alain
What was it?

They were selling a little doll and tiny clothes for it.

Alain
Really?

Cathy
It looked like a Licca-chan doll.

Alain
And that was only 100 yen?

Cathy
Yes.

Alain
That’s amazing.

Cathy
When I was a kid, toys like that were expensive.

Alain
So you wish you had a store like that when you were a kid?

Cathy
Definitely.
I probably would have gone there all the time.

Alain
Well, there’s one problem with 100-yen shops.

Cathy
What’s that?

Alain
You go in to buy just one thing…

Cathy
…and you walk out with ten things.

Alain
Exactly!

Cathy
But because everything is cheap, you don’t feel so bad.

Alain
Maybe that’s their strategy.

Cathy
By the way, how much did you spend today?

Alain
Umm… about 2,500 yen.

Cathy
What?! That’s a lot!

Hey… it’s still a good deal.
