(English Script)

Alain: Hey Cathy, you look surprised. What happened?

Cathy: I went to the supermarket today, and I couldn’t believe the prices.

Alain: Really? What was so expensive?

Cathy: Vegetables! Everything was expensive.

Alain: I’ve heard that vegetable prices are going up.

Cathy: Tomatoes were almost twice the price!

Alain: Wow, that’s crazy.

Cathy: Lettuce was expensive too. And broccoli!

Alain: Vegetable prices change a lot in Japan.

Cathy: But this time it feels really extreme.

Alain: The weak yen might be part of the reason.

Cathy: The weak yen? What does that have to do with vegetables?

Alain: Japan imports a lot of food.

Cathy: Oh, I see. So when the yen gets weaker, imported food becomes more expensive.

Alain: Exactly.

Cathy: That’s a problem. I love salads.

Alain: But we have a garden, remember?

Cathy: That’s true. You grow vegetables there.

Alain: Yes. This year I’m growing tomatoes, cucumbers, and basil.

Cathy: I know. But gardening isn’t really my thing.

Alain: But you love eating vegetables.

Cathy: Of course I do.

Alain: That sounds very convenient.

Cathy: I eat the vegetables. You grow them.

Alain: That’s a nice arrangement.

Cathy: Right?

Alain: But gardening takes a lot of work.

Cathy: I know. That’s why I don’t do it.

Alain: At least you’re honest.

Cathy: But your tomatoes are really delicious.

Alain: I’m glad you think so.

Cathy: They’re much better than supermarket tomatoes.

Alain: And much fresher too.

Cathy: Then please grow a lot this year.

Alain: Maybe I should sell them.

Cathy: Sell them?

Alain: Yes. To you.

Cathy: To me?!

Alain: Of course. Vegetables are expensive these days.

Cathy: Wait a minute. I’m your wife.

Alain: Don’t worry. I’ll give you a special price.

Cathy: That doesn’t make me happy at all.

Dialogue(英語+日本語)
